The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) has been conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) since 2006, in accordance with the CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983, published in the Gazette of India. This implies the necessity of a dedicated architecture entrance exam, distinct from those for Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine, and other disciplines. As the authoritative body for establishing norms and standards for architectural institutions, CoA is well-equipped to administer a Common Aptitude Test in Architecture at the national level. This facilitates a streamlined process for students, institutions, and the public to gain admission to the first year of the 5-year B.Arch. Degree Course across all recognized institutions in the country.
